Frequently Asked Questions About IFTF

If you have a question about IFTF not addressed here, please feel free to write us and ask.

If you’d like to know more about interactive fiction in general, please see our separate FAQ on that topic.

How can I help IFTF?

First of all, spread the word! As a nonprofit driven by volunteer work and publicly donated funds, the more people know about IFTF, the more effectively it can meet its mission.

We always gratefully accept monetary gifts of any size, sent by PayPal or through the mail. Every dollar helps with our programs and activities, both current and future. (And if you happen to be a U.S. citizen, then your donations to IFTF are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.)

If you are interested in volunteering your time or talent with IFTF-related projects, please let us know!

What kinds of technology projects does IFTF support?

In these its early days, IFTF is most interested in supporting the various volunteer projects that have provided the IF community’s technological infrastructure for a long time.

IFTF has a list of its current and planned programs, and we welcome suggestions for others.

Is IFTF interested in supporting brand-new or in-development projects?

Probably not right now, given its current focus on existing projects and services.

IFTF would like to launch an outgoing grants program in the future, paired with regular calls for new project proposals. Please do follow news about the organization’s growth and developments through its public mailing list or its Mastodon or Twitter accounts.

Does IFTF help fund interactive fiction games or creators?

Not directly. We love games and the people who make them, obviously, but IFTF focuses its efforts on the technologies that enable this work.
